FUE hair transplant — Just Clinic Istanbul

As of September 2026, the indicative FUE hair transplant cost in Turkey on this page is 2,600-4,500 EUR per session. This is not a price per graft or an unlimited-graft promise; donor capacity, recipient area, technique, anaesthesia and written aftercare determine the final quote.

Each month, Just Clinic Istanbul collects current prices / costs for FUE hair transplant procedures from 30 hospitals randomly selected from our partner network, listed on our Hospitals page. We compare equivalent treatment plans and publish the lowest and highest reported prices as a minimum–maximum range. They are a neutral, objective reference, not the price of a single hospital or clinic and not a personal offer from Just Clinic Istanbul.

The final written quote can vary with clinical complexity, technique, anaesthesia, facility arrangements, tests, medication, aftercare and follow-up. Anything not named in the written scope is outside the price. One provider offer on file lists sedation when clinically appropriate after assessment, necessary pre- and post-operative medication, PRP, scalp ozone and laser therapy, a professional first wash with medical foam, an orthopaedic neck pillow, and vitamins, shampoo, lotion and serum; these are not universal inclusions.

Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a hair-transplant method in which individual follicular-unit grafts are taken from a suitable donor area, usually at the back or sides of the scalp, and placed into planned recipient sites. The surgeon designs the hairline and coverage around your existing hair, hair-loss pattern and donor reserve. The aim is to improve coverage in thinning or bald areas; it is not an instant full head of hair and it does not stop every cause of future hair loss.

The treating clinician conducts the assessment; the hospital or clinic confirms appointments and arranges practical services only where listed in the written offer. The operating clinician decides whether the donor area can support the proposed design, how many grafts are reasonable and whether one session is enough. For a broader comparison of techniques, see our hair transplant Turkey cost page. The named surgeon and the agreed aftercare route should appear in your written quote.

People with a diagnosed, stable pattern of permanent hair loss and enough healthy donor hair may ask about FUE. A useful assessment considers the cause and stability of the loss, donor density, hair texture and colour contrast, the size of the area to cover, any previous transplant and your expectations. A natural-looking plan may prioritise the hairline, crown or another named area rather than trying to cover everything in one sitting.

FUE may need to be postponed or reshaped if the cause of hair loss is unclear, active or patchy, if the donor area is too sparse, or if a scalp condition or general-health issue needs treatment first. Younger patients may need particular discussion because future loss can change the surrounding hair. The surgeon may recommend medical management, observation or staged sessions instead of harvesting beyond a safe donor reserve. Photographs help with planning, but only an individual consultation can confirm suitability.

After the donor and recipient areas are mapped, the donor area is usually trimmed or shaved for extraction. A small punch removes follicular units one at a time. The team keeps the grafts in suitable conditions while the recipient sites are prepared, then places the grafts according to the planned hairline, direction and density. FUE normally leaves many small round scars rather than one linear strip scar, but it is not a scarless technique. Poor harvesting can thin the donor area or make scars more visible.

Sapphire FUE generally describes a version of the recipient-channel part of the plan that uses a sapphire blade. The name does not guarantee more grafts, better growth or a particular result. DHI describes an implantation approach rather than a separate harvesting method; if it is requested or recommended, ask what changes in the technique, session time, price and aftercare. Your written plan should make the actual harvest and implantation methods clear.

A hair-transplant session usually takes most of a day, with the exact chair and theatre time depending on the donor area, recipient map, number of grafts and team’s method. FUE is commonly carried out under local anaesthetic, sometimes with sedation, so you are awake while the scalp is numbed. The anaesthetist or clinician explains the appropriate plan for you.

Most hair transplants are outpatient procedures and do not require an overnight hospital stay. A large area may need two or more sessions on different days. Do not book the number of grafts, the session length or a return flight from an advert; use the surgeon’s assessment and discharge instructions.

Allow time for the in-person assessment, the FUE session, the first scalp check and instructions for washing and protecting the grafts. The exact number of nights depends on your plan and the surgeon’s clearance to travel. Keep flights flexible, and confirm whether hotel nights, transfers, a companion’s stay and any additional check are included in writing. The planned session is one day; the healing of the grafts continues after you leave.

  • Share the history and pattern of your hair loss, previous procedures, scalp conditions, allergies, medical conditions, medication, supplements, alcohol and tobacco use.
  • Send clear photographs and describe your priorities: hairline, crown, density, scars or another named area. Do not request a graft number before the donor area has been assessed.
  • Ask whether your hair loss should first be stabilised with medical treatment or observed. Do not start or stop medication without the clinician managing your care.
  • Follow the written instructions about washing, shaving, fasting, smoking and medicines. Arrange transport if sedation is used.
  • Plan loose clothing and help with luggage if your scalp is tender. Protect the recipient area from rubbing, pressure and unnecessary handling after the session.

Scabs, tightness, itching, swelling, tenderness and temporary numbness can occur around the donor and recipient areas. The grafts are vulnerable at first, so follow the surgeon’s washing and sleeping instructions carefully and do not pick at crusts. The NHS advises that transplanted grafts are not secure during the first two weeks; time away from work is often around one to two weeks, depending on the job and the clinician’s advice. Exercise and water exposure should follow the specific discharge plan.

Some transplanted hairs commonly shed after the procedure before new growth appears. New hair may start to show from around four months, but the result develops gradually and a fuller result can take roughly ten to eighteen months. Existing hair around the transplant may continue to thin. No clinic can guarantee a particular density, graft survival, hairline or number of sessions.

Possible risks include bleeding, infection, an allergic reaction to anaesthetic, pain, swelling, altered sensation, visible scarring, donor thinning, poor graft growth, an unnatural appearance and continued hair loss. Contact the clinic promptly for severe pain, fever, excessive bleeding, marked redness, pus, unexpected swelling or any other concerning symptom. Keep the agreed follow-up route available after returning home.

These notes answer questions people raise before they accept a written treatment plan. They describe what that plan should make clear. How much donor hair can safely be taken, and what reserve should remain?

The permanent donor zone is the hair at the back and sides that resists pattern loss. Capacity is not a follicle count per square centimetre on its own. Hair calibre, curl, the contrast between hair and scalp, and how much of that zone may later be exposed all belong in the written plan. Taking more than that zone can thin the donor area and make the small round FUE marks easier to see. A high graft slogan does not measure the reserve that is left. Why is FUE, an implanter pen, or another approach being proposed?

ISHRS treats taking tissue from the donor area and making the recipient sites as separate surgical steps. FUE describes removing grafts one by one from the back or sides. DHI, or a Choi implanter, describes how a prepared graft is placed. It is not a second operation that replaces FUE. The written plan should name the harvest instrument and the placement instrument separately. Source: ISHRS position statement on physician practice.

Who will diagnose, design, harvest, make the sites, place the grafts and follow up?

The ISHRS board statement revised on 13 July 2024 says that diagnosis, planning, donor harvesting, hairline design, recipient-site creation, management of medical problems and aftercare are to be done by a licensed physician trained in hair restoration. In some countries a physician assistant or nurse practitioner may work within the limits of that licence and under that physician’s supervision. ISHRS regards a surgical step performed by an unlicensed person as unethical. Graft placement is not a separate bullet in that list, so the written plan still has to name who places the grafts. Ongoing loss of your own hair does not cancel the transplant, and longer-term medical follow-up should be written down as well. Source: ISHRS position statement on physician practice.

Can native hair shed after FUE, separately from the transplanted hair?

Yes. Transplanted hair shafts often shed before new growth, but existing hairs in the recipient area can also shed after surgery; this is called shock loss or recipient-site effluvium. It often begins within the first few weeks and is usually temporary, although already-miniaturised hairs may not fully return. This differs from expected graft shedding. Contact your treating team about new or worrying loss, since an individual examination is needed. Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery review.

The following is an example of wording in a hair-transplant certificate issued by Estethica. The graft-count placeholder is left blank, as it is in the supplied document:

With your consent and acceptance of the operation, your hair transplant operation was performed with ........ grafts and the operation got completed. As long as you fully fulfill all procedures correctly before and after surgery, you will not experience loss of any graft implanted. We guarantee that the number of grafts implanted are accurate and that the implanted hair will grow in a healthy way.

This quotation reproduces Estethica’s document wording and its statement is conditional on following the procedures before and after surgery. It is the issuer’s wording, not a guarantee by Just Clinic Istanbul or an unnamed clinic. It does not show that this certificate is included with, or applies to, any package discussed on this page. The supplied certificate does not state lifetime cover, a refund or free repeat surgery.

Frequently asked questions about cost

How much does an FUE hair transplant cost in Turkey in 2026? +

As of September 2026, the guide range is 2,600–4,500 EUR per session for one FUE or sapphire FUE session. Donor capacity and the written scope determine the final quote.

Is the FUE price calculated per graft? +

No. The P028 guide range is per one-session procedure, not a promise of unlimited grafts or a fixed graft number. The surgeon sets a safe graft plan after assessing the donor area and recipient needs.

What is included in an FUE hair-transplant session? +

The guide covers one FUE or sapphire FUE session with local anaesthesia and a session plan. Consultation, prescribed medication, scalp products and follow-up are included only when specified in the written offer.

Who may be suitable for FUE? +

People with diagnosed, stable permanent hair loss, enough healthy donor hair and realistic expectations may ask about FUE. Patchy or active loss, a sparse donor area or a scalp condition may require another plan. The surgeon decides after assessment.

Is FUE performed under local anaesthetic? +

FUE is commonly performed under local anaesthetic, sometimes with sedation, and most sessions are outpatient procedures without an overnight hospital stay. Your clinician confirms the anaesthetic and discharge plan.

How long should I stay in Istanbul for FUE? +

The treating team sets the schedule for assessment, the session, an early scalp check and travel clearance. Keep plans flexible and follow the clinician’s advice.

When will new hair grow after FUE? +

Transplanted hairs can shed before regrowing. New growth may start around four months, while a fuller result can take roughly ten to eighteen months. The timing and density vary, so no exact result is guaranteed.

Does FUE leave scars? +

FUE usually leaves many small round scars in the donor area rather than one linear scar, but it is not a scarless technique. Harvesting beyond the donor capacity can make thinning or scars more visible.

Is sapphire FUE or DHI guaranteed to give a better result? +

No. Sapphire FUE and DHI describe parts of a technique, not a guaranteed outcome. Ask what is actually planned, who performs each step, how the donor area is protected and what aftercare is available.
