BBL (buttock fat transfer) — Just Clinic Istanbul

As of September 2026, the BBL Turkey price guide on this page is 3,500–6,500 EUR for a primary autologous BBL with selected donor-area liposuction. It is not an automatic promise that a full Lipo 360 plan, a tummy tuck, revision work or every travel item is included. The operating provider’s written scope and individual assessment determine the final price.

Each month, Just Clinic Istanbul collects current prices / costs for Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedures from 30 hospitals randomly selected from our partner network, listed on our Hospitals page. We compare equivalent treatment plans and publish the lowest and highest reported prices as a minimum–maximum range. They are a neutral, objective reference, not the price of a single hospital or clinic and not a personal offer from Just Clinic Istanbul.

A Brazilian butt lift, also called autologous gluteal fat grafting, uses your own fat rather than a silicone implant. Suitable fat is removed by liposuction from agreed donor areas, prepared, then placed under the skin of the buttocks to change their contour or add measured volume. The donor-area contour can change at the same time, but a BBL is not a weight-loss operation and it cannot promise a particular shape or that every millilitre transferred will remain.

With your consent, an enquiry may be shared with an authorised independent healthcare partner. The treating provider named in the written plan is responsible for the clinical assessment, the operation, the surgical facility, the aftercare instructions and decisions about fitness to travel. For a patient-facing discussion of BBL safety and recovery, read our BBL safety and recovery experience.

A surgeon may consider a BBL for an adult who is close to a stable weight, has enough suitable donor fat and can follow the post-operative restrictions. A realistic aim is a more balanced waist-to-hip contour, not a copied photograph, a guaranteed clothing size or unlimited volume. Suitability requires an individual medical assessment, including your health history, medication, previous procedures, smoking status, skin quality and photographs or examination of the donor areas.

A plan may be reduced, delayed, staged or declined when donor fat is limited, a significant weight change is expected, loose skin is the main concern, smoking or a medical condition increases risk, or a longer anaesthetic is not appropriate. If excess abdominal skin or muscle separation is the main issue, a surgeon may discuss a tummy tuck rather than promising that liposuction will solve it. If there is insufficient donor fat, buttock implants are a different operation with a different risk profile and quote.

  1. Assessment and planning: the treating surgeon assesses health, donor fat, skin and goals, then defines what is clinically appropriate.
  2. Donor-area liposuction: fat is removed from the selected areas. Liposuction alone does not create buttock volume; see our liposuction cost guide for that separate procedure.
  3. Fat preparation: the harvested tissue is prepared for grafting.
  4. Gluteal fat placement: the surgeon places suitable fat in the subcutaneous tissues above the gluteal fascia, following the safety approach described below.
  5. Recovery and follow-up: the written plan sets movement, sitting, garment, wound-care and review instructions.

A BBL is commonly performed under general anaesthetic. Theatre time, monitoring and hospital stay are individual: a standalone plan may take roughly two to four hours and commonly involve one or two hospital nights, but the surgeon and anaesthetist decide the appropriate plan. Those hospital nights form part of, rather than replace, the overall stay in Istanbul.

There is no universally accepted number of BBL “types”. Medically, the core procedure is autologous gluteal fat grafting: fat is harvested, prepared and transferred to the buttocks. Many familiar labels describe a difference in donor-area liposuction, contouring goal, patient anatomy or whether the surgery is a repeat procedure — not a completely different fat-transfer operation.

  • Standard BBL: the core autologous fat-grafting procedure.
  • Lipo 360 BBL: a BBL combined with a defined circumferential liposuction plan around the torso; it is a scope variation, not a second mechanism of buttock augmentation.
  • Skinny BBL: a non-standard marketing term for patients with limited donor fat. It may mean a smaller transfer, more limited change or that a BBL is not advisable.
  • HD/VASER BBL: labels that usually describe how the donor areas are contoured. They do not change the fact that a BBL uses autologous fat transfer.
  • Plus-size BBL: a patient-description or commercial label, not a separate standardised surgical technique. Health, operating time and risk still require individual assessment.
  • Revision BBL: a secondary procedure intended to address a previous fat-transfer or contour result; scar tissue and available donor fat can make it more complex.
  • Ultrasound-guided BBL: a safety measure used during fat placement, not a separate cosmetic “type”.

Terms such as “mini BBL” or “hybrid BBL” are not a universal medical classification. A hybrid plan may involve another procedure, such as an implant, and should not be treated as interchangeable with a standard BBL. Ask the treating surgeon to define the proposed operation in writing rather than relying on a package label.

Gluteal fat grafting has important safety considerations. Current multisociety guidance supported by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) supports placing fat only in the subcutaneous tissues above the gluteal fascia and using real-time ultrasound guidance to visualise the injection cannula during fat placement. This is not an assurance that every provider follows the same protocol; it is a specific point a patient should verify with the operating surgeon.

Before committing to any provider, ask whether real-time ultrasound is used throughout gluteal fat injection, who operates every critical part of the procedure, where it takes place, how the facility is licensed or accredited, who provides anaesthesia and how complications are managed. A low advertised price is not evidence that those safety arrangements are in place.

No elective surgery is risk-free. General surgical risks can include bleeding, infection, fluid collection, wound-healing problems, scarring, anaesthetic complications, deep-vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, contour asymmetry and the need for revision. BBL-specific concerns include fat embolism, which can be life-threatening or fatal, as well as uneven fat survival, visible irregularities and an outcome that does not match expectations.

Risk cannot be eliminated by a web page, a package name or a price. A qualified operating surgeon, an appropriate facility, subcutaneous-only placement, real-time ultrasound guidance, peri-operative monitoring and a clear aftercare route are important safeguards. Contact the treating team or seek urgent local medical care for symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, calf pain, worsening pain, fever, spreading redness, unusual discharge or any other unexpected symptom.

  • Who is the named operating surgeon, and how can I verify their plastic-surgery training and privileges?
  • Which hospital or licensed surgical facility will be used, and what monitoring is planned during and after surgery?
  • Who will provide the anaesthetic, and what is the facility’s escalation, emergency-transfer and intensive-care plan if extra care is needed?
  • Will fat be placed only in the subcutaneous tissues above the gluteal fascia?
  • Is real-time ultrasound used throughout gluteal fat injection to visualise the cannula?
  • Which donor areas are included, and is this a standard BBL or a defined Lipo 360 BBL plan?
  • Ask which hospital care, garments, medication and clinical checks are included, and which are charged separately.
  • Who provides aftercare and follow-up after discharge and after I return home, and what is the written revision policy?
  • What is the plan if I need additional care, if my flight must move, and who decides that I am fit to fly?
  • Is a combined tummy-tuck plan appropriate in one operation, or would staging be safer for me?

Some transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed while healing. There is no universal fat-survival percentage that applies to every BBL. Retention varies with anatomy, tissue quality, donor fat, the amount and distribution of fat transferred, technique, healing and changes in weight. The initial swollen appearance is not the final result; the surgeon should explain when it is sensible to judge the developing contour and whether a later revision could ever be considered.

Prices on this guide were last reviewed on 22 September 2026. The ranges are references from comparable monthly hospital quotes for the defined scopes above, not a binding offer, a price-per-litre calculation or a national average. We keep the primary BBL, Lipo 360 BBL, three-part combination and package figures separate so that one label is not used to imply another scope.

The 4,200 EUR all-inclusive reference above is one example within the current 4,000–7,000 EUR related-package guide range. That package is a separate scope with its own stated inclusions and exclusions; it is not a second clinical BBL price band and does not replace the 3,500–6,500 EUR primary-procedure guide. A package range can overlap the procedure guide because it groups different written combinations of hospital, accommodation, transfers, garments, medication and follow-up; the written scope, rather than the headline number, explains the difference. A written quote should name the operating provider, exact donor areas, whether Lipo 360 is included, the intended fat-transfer plan, hospital and hotel nights, garments, medication, transfers, early follow-up, exclusions and the conditions that may change the price. Price can vary with donor areas, available fat, skin quality, previous surgery, operating time, hospital protocol, aftercare needs and whether a combination should be staged. Never choose between quotes on a single “from” figure.

Recovery instructions must come from the treating surgeon because they depend on the procedure, your health and how you heal. The outline below is a planning guide, not clearance to travel, sit, exercise or return to work.

StageTypical planning point
Hospital and early checksCommonly one or two hospital nights within a planned stay of about seven to ten nights in Istanbul. The surgeon decides discharge and fitness to fly.
SittingMany surgeons advise avoiding prolonged direct pressure on the buttocks for roughly two to three weeks, sometimes longer. When sitting is necessary, use the method and cushion specified by the treating team.
SleepingFront or side sleeping is often advised at first; return to another position only when the surgeon clears it.
WorkSome people can manage light or remote duties around 10–14 days if sitting restrictions can be respected. Conventional desk work often needs around two to three weeks or more; physical jobs may take longer.
FlyingKeep return flights flexible. Travel is only appropriate when the surgeon clears it, commonly within the planned seven-to-ten-night stay for an uncomplicated standalone BBL, with a sitting plan for the journey.
Exercise and final contourHard exercise is often deferred for around six to eight weeks or longer. Swelling and early fat resorption mean the contour can continue to settle for months.

Follow the written post-operative plan rather than a generic calendar. Do not stop or start medication, including blood thinners or supplements, without clinical advice. Maintain a stable weight where possible, avoid smoking if instructed and arrange help with luggage and daily activities in the first days.

A BBL uses your own fat. Buttock implants use a device and have different risks, scars and recovery. A surgical buttock lift removes loose skin and may be considered when skin laxity, rather than lack of volume, is the primary concern. These are not interchangeable choices and should be assessed by the operating surgeon.

These notes answer questions people raise before they accept a written treatment plan. They describe what that plan should make clear. They are not a promise that any partner hospital uses a particular technique, device or payment arrangement. With your consent, an enquiry may be shared with an authorised healthcare partner.

In a BBL, which tissue plane receives the fat, and how is the cannula tip watched during injection?

The joint safety statement of 18 August 2022 from ASPS, the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation and related bodies supports placing fat only in the subcutaneous tissue above the gluteal fascia, and watching the cannula tip with ultrasound in real time while the fat is injected. Florida’s decision to require those two rules is described there as a patient-safety measure. A machine being in the building does not mean it is used for every injection. Injection into or under the muscle has been linked to fat embolism and death. Source: ASPS joint BBL safety statement.

Why would liposuction, a BBL and a tummy tuck be done in one operation, and when should they be staged?

Doing liposuction, fat injection and a tummy tuck in one sitting lengthens the anaesthetic and increases blood and fluid loss and clot risk. Aggressive fat removal from the same area can injure the blood supply of a tummy-tuck flap. The written plan should say why the combination is considered safe in one operation, or which part is being left for later. A promise of one session for everyone is not an individual decision. Sources: ASPS liposuction safety, NHS advice on cosmetic surgery abroad.

How will clot and pulmonary embolism risk be assessed and managed?

ASPS lists deep-vein thrombosis and heart and lung complications among liposuction risks. The BBL statement treats fat embolism as a separate and more serious risk. It is not prevented by a clot-preventing drug. The injection plane and ultrasound are what that statement relies on to reduce it. For clots, the written plan should cover your own risk, walking early, stockings or a compression device, and a clot-preventing medicine only if the surgeon decides it is indicated. The NHS asks people to call 999 or go to emergency care for breathlessness or chest pain with a painful swollen calf. Flying adds to this risk. Sources: ASPS liposuction safety, NHS weight-loss surgery complications.

What is the emergency route in the first days if a serious complication is suspected?

The ASPS joint statement asks the operating surgeon to manage complications personally, or to take a direct part in that care, for patients who have travelled. Breathlessness, chest pain, fainting, rapidly growing swelling on one side, and a painful swollen calf are emergency-department symptoms. Suspected fat embolism is considered separately from a blood clot. A route that says “write during office hours” does not cover the first 24 hours.

After I go home, who follows a complication and which costs are whose?

The NHS asks people to get in writing, before cosmetic surgery abroad, where reviews will happen, what further surgery and a return journey cost, and what insurance covers. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. This inventory does not say that any partner pays those items. Source: NHS advice on cosmetic surgery abroad.

Do I have enough donor fat for a BBL?

Only an in-person assessment can establish whether there is enough safely harvestable fat for the change you want. A BBL uses your own fat, so the surgeon considers donor areas, body shape, health and the amount that can be transferred within a safe plan. Having less donor fat may mean a smaller change, a different plan or that surgery is not advised. The amount removed or injected should not be treated as a target in itself. ASPS describes fat transfer as using fat harvested from donor areas.

What is a skinny BBL, and is it suitable for everyone?

“Skinny BBL” is a marketing label rather than a standardised operation. It is often used when someone has limited donor fat, so the realistic change may be smaller; in some cases, a surgeon may advise against fat transfer. Suitability depends on health, anatomy, safely available donor fat and the amount of change sought. Ask the surgeon to define the operation, donor areas and expected limits in writing instead of relying on the label. ASPS describes the underlying fat-transfer procedure and its donor-fat requirement.

What do hard lumps after a BBL mean — fibrosis, fat necrosis or swelling?

A hard area after BBL cannot be identified by feel alone. Fat necrosis is one possible complication of buttock fat grafting and may cause hardening, but a clinician needs to assess a lump to determine its cause. Contact the operating team about a new or worsening area. Seek urgent care for chest pain or shortness of breath. ASPS discusses fat necrosis as a possible BBL complication.

Do I need lymphatic massage after BBL?

Not everyone is advised to have lymphatic massage after BBL. A surgeon may recommend it, but whether and when it is appropriate depends on the operation and how the donor and grafted areas are healing. Check with the treating surgeon before arranging massage, and ask who should perform it, which areas can be treated and what symptoms mean you should stop and contact the team. ASPS says the surgeon may encourage lymphatic massage during recovery.

When can a BBL be revised or topped up?

There is no single date when a BBL can be revised or topped up. The surgeon needs to allow healing and swelling to settle, assess the remaining contour and donor areas, and consider your health before discussing another operation. Some transferred fat is reabsorbed and the final shape can take months to judge, so an early difference does not by itself mean more fat is needed. Further surgery has its own risks and may not be appropriate. Ask the original surgeon when they will reassess you. ASPS notes that fat-transfer results take time to mature.

Frequently asked questions about cost

How much is a BBL in Turkey in 2026? +

The September 2026 guide range on this page is 3,500–6,500 EUR for a primary autologous BBL with selected donor-area liposuction. It does not automatically include a full Lipo 360 plan, tummy tuck, revision surgery or every travel item. The operating provider’s written scope and quote determine the final price.

Why does Lipo 360 with BBL have a different price range? +

A defined Lipo 360 + BBL plan is a separate scope: circumferential liposuction around the torso plus autologous fat transfer. Its September 2026 guide range is 5,000–7,500 EUR. Compare the donor areas, hospital protocol, stay and written inclusions rather than assuming every BBL has the same scope.

How many types of BBL are there? +

There is no universally accepted number. Medically, a BBL is autologous gluteal fat grafting. Labels such as Lipo 360 BBL, Skinny BBL, HD/VASER BBL, Plus-size BBL and Revision BBL usually describe donor-area liposuction, anatomy, contouring goals or a repeat operation rather than entirely different BBL procedures.

Where is fat placed during a safety-conscious BBL? +

Current multisociety guidance supports placing gluteal fat only in the subcutaneous tissues above the gluteal fascia and using real-time ultrasound guidance to visualise the cannula during fat placement. Ask the operating surgeon whether this is used throughout the injection.

What risks should I understand before a BBL? +

Risks can include bleeding, infection, anaesthetic complications, blood clots, wound problems, contour irregularity, uneven fat survival and revision. Fat embolism is a serious BBL-specific risk and can be life-threatening. A web page or a package price cannot make surgery risk-free.

How much transferred fat survives after a BBL? +

Some transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed during healing. There is no universal percentage for every BBL: retention varies with anatomy, tissue quality, the amount and distribution of fat, healing, technique and later weight change. Final contour should be judged only after swelling and early resorption have settled.

When can I sit, sleep, work, exercise and fly after a BBL? +

Many surgeons advise avoiding prolonged direct sitting for around two to three weeks, sometimes longer, and initially recommend front or side sleeping. Some patients manage light or remote work around 10–14 days if restrictions can be respected; desk work often takes two to three weeks or more. Hard exercise is often delayed around six to eight weeks. Plan roughly seven to ten nights in Istanbul and fly only when the treating surgeon clears you.

What should I ask the surgeon before booking? +

Ask who will operate, how their qualifications and privileges can be verified, which licensed facility and anaesthesia provider will be used, whether fat stays above the gluteal fascia, whether real-time ultrasound is used throughout injection, and how emergency or intensive-care escalation would work. Ask the treating provider to confirm aftercare, follow-up, revision policy and fit-to-fly advice in writing.

Why is an all-inclusive BBL package not the same as the primary BBL price guide? +

The 3,500–6,500 EUR guide refers to a primary autologous BBL with selected donor-area liposuction. The 4,200 EUR all-inclusive reference is one example within the related package’s current 4,000–7,000 EUR guide range, which has its own listed clinical and non-clinical inclusions. Compare the named donor areas, hospital nights, garments, medication, follow-up and exclusions in writing; neither figure is a binding quote.

Is a BBL the same as buttock implants or a buttock lift? +

No. A BBL uses your own fat. Buttock implants use a device, while a surgical buttock lift removes loose skin. They have different indications, risks, scars, recovery and quotes. The surgeon should assess which, if any, is appropriate for you.
