Otoplasty — Just Clinic Istanbul

As of September 2026, the indicative otoplasty cost in Turkey on this page is 1,900-3,000 EUR per bilateral ear-pinning procedure. The range covers agreed cartilage reshaping or set-back for both ears; technique, anaesthesia, hospital care and inclusions are confirmed after assessment.

Each month, Just Clinic Istanbul collects current prices / costs for otoplasty procedures from 30 hospitals randomly selected from our partner network, listed on our Hospitals page. We compare equivalent treatment plans and publish the lowest and highest reported prices as a minimum–maximum range. They are a neutral, objective reference, not the price of a single hospital or clinic and not a personal offer from Just Clinic Istanbul.

The final written quote can change with complexity, technique, anaesthesia, hospital arrangements, tests, medication, accommodation, transfers and follow-up. Anything not named in writing should be treated as outside the price.

With your consent, enquiries may be forwarded to independent healthcare providers or authorised medical tourism organisations.

Use the country table as editorial orientation only. Ranges can cover different scopes from one country to another; compare the same procedure, inclusions and follow-up in writing before treating any figure as meaningful.

Otoplasty, also called ear pinning or pinnaplasty, is cosmetic ear surgery that changes the position, shape or proportion of the outer ear. For the defined plan on this page, the surgeon corrects prominent or protruding ears on both sides by reshaping the cartilage and setting the ears closer to the head.

The usual approach involves an incision behind the ear, careful cartilage adjustment and stitches that hold the new shape while the tissues heal. The operation is planned around your anatomy rather than a standard appearance. Otoplasty cannot guarantee identical ears, invisible scars or a particular emotional outcome. The treating hospital or clinic handles appointments and communication and arranges practical services only where listed in the written offer; the surgeon remains responsible for the clinical assessment, consent and operation.

People may consider otoplasty when prominent ears or an obvious difference between the ears affects how they feel about their appearance. It is commonly considered for older children and teenagers, and adults can also have the operation. Children are generally assessed once the ear has reached enough development, often from around the age of five; the appropriate timing depends on the child’s health, maturity and the surgeon’s assessment.

A consultation should cover your reasons for surgery, the shape and cartilage of each ear, previous ear procedures or injuries, general health, allergies, medicines, smoking and your expectations. Children should understand the reason for the operation and be able to follow the aftercare instructions. Surgery may need to be delayed if an ear infection, another medical issue or an anaesthetic and healing concern has not been addressed.

The aim is balanced improvement, not mathematical symmetry. If the concern is a torn or stretched earlobe, missing ear tissue or a complex deformity, a different operation and a different quote may be needed.

  • Behind-the-ear incision: the surgeon usually works through a cut in the natural fold behind the ear, where the scar can mature discreetly.
  • Cartilage reshaping: cartilage may be folded, scored, adjusted or selectively reduced to create a more defined fold and a less prominent position.
  • Positioning stitches: sutures hold the ear closer to the head and the incision is closed before a protective dressing is applied.
  • Selected alternatives: an incisionless technique using needles and sutures may be considered in selected cases, but it is not suitable for every ear and is not assumed in this price guide.

The planned bilateral correction is different from microtia reconstruction, which rebuilds absent or severely underdeveloped ear tissue, and from earlobe repair. One-sided surgery, a previous otoplasty that needs revision and additional ear procedures must be assessed and itemised separately.

Otoplasty usually takes around 1–2 hours, although the time changes with the cartilage shape, asymmetry, technique and whether another procedure is added. Older children and adults may be considered for local anaesthesia; younger children are more often offered general anaesthesia. The anaesthetist and surgeon select the plan after reviewing your health and the operation.

Ear pinning is commonly an outpatient procedure. You may spend several hours in recovery and go home the same day when you are alert, stable and the team is satisfied with your discharge plan. Arrange an adult to accompany you after anaesthesia and ask in advance whether the written quote covers the surgeon, anaesthesia, theatre, hospital observation, dressings, medication and planned checks.

Allow time for the consultation, surgery, recovery-room observation, dressing or wound review and the surgeon’s clearance to travel. Do not book a tightly timed sightseeing programme around the operation. Keep return travel flexible because the safe interval depends on your procedure, healing and the clinician’s advice.

Bring your medical history, medication list, allergy information and details of any previous ear surgery or injury. Arrange help with luggage and daily tasks. Flights, extra accommodation, travel insurance and a companion’s costs are separate unless the written quote says otherwise.

  • Share your medical history, allergies, medicines and supplements, previous ear procedures or injuries and any history of wound-healing problems.
  • Tell the team if you smoke or use nicotine. Follow the surgeon’s instructions about stopping smoking, fasting, alcohol and medicines.
  • Do not stop prescribed blood-thinning medication or other regular treatment without advice from the clinician managing it.
  • Confirm whether you will have local or general anaesthesia, who will take you home and how the dressing should be kept clean and dry.
  • Bring loose clothing that does not need to be pulled over your head and arrange help with luggage, sleeping and early daily tasks.
  • Agree the timing of wound checks, headband use, washing your hair, driving, work, exercise, swimming and travel before booking flights.

A dressing or bandage protects the ears while they begin to heal. It is commonly kept in place for about a week, with a review and removal of dressings or stitches after roughly 5–10 days when appropriate. Your surgeon may recommend a soft protective headband at night for several weeks so the ears are not bent forwards during sleep.

Soreness, tenderness, itching, swelling, bruising, numbness or tingling can occur and usually improve with time. Many children return to school after around 1–2 weeks, but work and normal activity depend on the operation and your recovery. Swimming may need to wait around 4–6 weeks and contact sports around 8 weeks; use the surgeon’s clearance rather than a general timetable.

A small scar behind each ear can fade as it matures, while the final position and flexibility continue to settle. Attend the planned checks and keep your operative records. Contact the surgical team promptly for increasing redness or swelling, worsening pain, bleeding or fluid from the incision, fever, wound breakdown, sudden asymmetry, shortness of breath, chest pain or calf pain.

Possible complications include infection, bleeding or haematoma, inflammation of the ear cartilage, delayed healing, prominent scarring, altered sensation, stiffness, contour irregularity, asymmetry, ears becoming prominent again, anaesthetic problems and the possibility of further surgery. The surgeon should explain the risks relevant to your anatomy and planned technique before you consent.

These notes answer questions people raise before they accept a written treatment plan. They describe what that plan should make clear. If vision changes, the eye will not close, the face becomes weak, or a haematoma develops after I go home, what happens and who pays?

The symptoms that need review without delay depend on the operation. After a face, neck, brow or temple lift: rapidly growing swelling on one side, pain, breathlessness or new facial weakness. After eyelid surgery: a lid that will not close, severe pain, an eye being pushed forward, or reduced vision. After facial fat injection: sudden loss of vision. ASPS lists blindness among eyelid-surgery risks, while describing it as very rare. A significant haematoma is treated by evacuation, as described above. Fat in a vessel needs emergency eye assessment. The NHS asks people to settle in writing, before cosmetic surgery abroad, where reviews happen, what further surgery and a return journey cost, and whether the clinic’s insurance covers the patient. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. Follow-up after an operation in the UK is the surgeon’s responsibility. A clinic abroad may not offer the same follow-up or a doctor in your own country. The NHS uses 7–10 days after facial cosmetic surgery as a planning window before flying, because of clot risk. Your own surgeon gives the personal clearance. This page does not say that any partner pays for admission, revision or the return flight. Does ear pinning affect hearing?

For the standard ear-pinning operation described here, otoplasty should not change hearing: it reshapes the outer ear and does not alter hearing. Cleveland Clinic patient guidance says otoplasty does not change or improve hearing. If you have a hearing change, recurrent ear infection or another ear problem, raise it before surgery so it can be assessed separately. This page covers cosmetic cartilage reshaping, not hearing treatment. Ask the surgeon to confirm the planned technique and whether any ear condition affects your plan. Frequently asked questions about cost

How much does otoplasty cost in Turkey in 2026? +

The editorial guide range on this page is 1,900–3,000 EUR for bilateral otoplasty correcting prominent ears as of September 2026. The final scope and written inclusions determine the personal quote.

Does the otoplasty price cover both ears? +

Yes. The defined guide unit is one procedure for both ears, including cartilage reshaping or set-back within the agreed plan. One-ear surgery and more complex ear work are separate scopes.

What is the difference between otoplasty and earlobe repair? +

Otoplasty changes the position or shape of the outer ear, commonly setting prominent ears closer to the head. Earlobe repair treats a torn, stretched or damaged lobe and is not included in this guide.

Who can be considered for ear pinning? +

Older children, teenagers and adults may be considered after an individual assessment. Health, ear development, healing factors, expectations and the ability to follow aftercare all matter.

How long does otoplasty take and is it day surgery? +

Otoplasty usually takes around 1–2 hours and is commonly performed as an outpatient procedure. Anaesthesia and discharge arrangements depend on age, health and the planned operation.

How long should I stay in Turkey after otoplasty? +

Allow time for assessment, the operation, recovery-room observation, a dressing or wound review and travel clearance. The surgeon sets the safe interval for flying, so keep your return plans flexible.

When can I return to normal activities after ear pinning? +

Soreness, swelling, bruising and temporary numbness are possible. A headband may be needed at night for several weeks, while swimming, contact sports, lifting and other activities should resume only after clinical clearance.
