What a thigh lift (thighplasty) package is

A thigh lift — thighplasty — removes loose inner-thigh skin that diet and gym will not take away. The extra fold is often left after a large weight loss. Liposuction on its own does not tighten that skin. A mini keeps the scar in the groin crease; a vertical run goes towards the knee. The mark fades over months; it does not disappear.

The written offer from your treating hospital or clinic should confirm whether the thighplasty is a mini or vertical approach, as drawn on the plan. Liposuction or another operation is a different scope unless named in writing. Who operates belongs on the paper, not in a slogan.

Who this package is for

Surgeons usually consider adults who are close to a stable weight and still have hanging skin on the inner thigh that chafes or hangs. Typical reasons include after major weight loss or bariatric surgery. If you cannot accept an inner-thigh scar, if a large weight loss is still coming, or if smoking or a long-term condition makes healing less safe, the plan is often postponed.

Send daylight photographs — front and both sides, standing, in underwear or shorts that show the inner thigh — without a filter. Suitability is confirmed in Istanbul before anyone operates. An arm lift or a liposuction-only map is not assumed in this package.

What sits outside the quote

VASER or additional liposuction, an arm lift in the same admission, and a second body operation are outside this thighplasty scope unless written into the plan. Over-tightening to pursue a photograph is not appropriate; the planned correction is limited by clinical safety.

Theatre, anaesthetic and nights in Istanbul

Plan seven to ten nights in the city. That window covers the in-person assessment, the operation, the hospital nights, walking in the garment and clearance to fly. Adverts of three or four hotel nights rarely leave the same medical margin. The hospital stay sits inside those nights; it does not replace them. Leave room for an extra night if the team asks.

Theatre time is usually two to three hours under general anaesthetic. A mini can be shorter; a vertical lift, or a plan that adds VASER, can take longer. Discharge is signed by the surgeon — it is not an advertising date.

Recovery after you fly home

The first seven to fourteen days are thigh care: the garment as shown, no gym, no long walks that rub the crease, no sitting with the thighs pressed together if you were told to keep them apart. Walking indoors is usually started early so clots are less likely. Scars fade over months, not days. Desk work is often possible after two to three weeks if the surgeon agrees. Sport, cycling and tight jeans wait for the timetable on your discharge note. None of that is a contour guarantee.

Red flags after you return — spreading redness, pus, a temperature that persists, sudden swelling in one calf, pain that is getting worse, or breathlessness — mean a local clinician or A&E first, then your coordinator. Take the discharge note with you.

Can a thigh lift and tummy tuck be combined in one operation?

They can sometimes be combined, but this requires particularly careful selection because both are major body-contouring operations. A tummy tuck creates a large abdominal healing area, while a thigh lift may place incisions and tension close to the groin and can make walking and sitting more difficult during early recovery. The surgeon should consider how much skin must be removed, the incision patterns, tissue blood supply and tension, BMI and weight stability, total operating time, wound-healing risk, mobility and blood-clot risk. When both operations are extensive — especially after major weight loss — performing them in separate stages may provide a more manageable recovery and reduce the amount of surgery performed at one time.

Is the main problem extra fat, extra skin or separated abdominal muscles, and which of those will this operation treat?

ASPS notes that when a large amount of fat is removed, extra skin can need a second operation. J-Plasma, also called Renuvion, aims to tighten skin with heat. It should not be written as a replacement for a tummy tuck or an arm or thigh lift when there is a hanging skin apron or a clear separation of the abdominal muscles. Source: ASPS liposuction safety.

How are a seroma, a wound opening or skin loss recognised and treated?

ASPS lists fluid collection, poor wound healing and heat injury among liposuction risks. A seroma is a wavy swelling under the incision. A small one may be absorbed. A collection that persists can be aspirated. One that is infected or threatening the skin is drained. A wound that opens, or skin that turns black, is a sign of tension, smoking, infection or a circulation problem. It is not a mark to close at home with a dressing. Drains, compression and the review date should be written down. Fever, a bad smell, an open wound and rapidly growing swelling should be reported without delay. Source: ASPS liposuction safety.

After I go home, who follows a wound problem or a suspected clot, and who pays for extra treatment?

The NHS asks people having cosmetic surgery abroad to settle in advance where reviews happen and what further surgery and a return journey cost. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. The NHS uses 5–7 days after liposuction or breast surgery, and 7–10 days after a tummy tuck, as planning windows before flying.
