What an arm lift package is

Brachioplasty — an arm lift — removes surplus skin from the inner upper arm after weight change or years of laxity. The cut may stay in the armpit (a mini), run toward the elbow (standard), or continue a short way onto the chest wall (extended). It is skin surgery, not a whole-body slim. Liposuction of the same arm sits in this stay only if the paper names it. The inner-arm scar fades over months; it does not disappear. If that line is unacceptable, this is not the operation.

The written offer from your treating hospital or clinic should confirm the incision planned for this arm lift. Liposuction or another body area is a different scope unless named in writing. Who operates belongs on the paper, not in a slogan.

Who this package is for

Surgeons usually consider adults with a stable weight whose inner-arm skin hangs when the arm is raised — often after major weight loss, or after age and sun have thinned the tissue. Exercise does not shorten that apron. A small pocket of fat with tight skin is a liposuction conversation, not this one. A thigh lift, tummy tuck or breast surgery in the same trip is a different quote.

The operation is often postponed if a large weight change is still coming, if the team has asked you to stop smoking, or if a long-term condition makes a general anaesthetic less safe. Send daylight photographs of both arms — front, outer and inner, arms slightly away from the body — without a filter or a squeezed pose. Suitability is confirmed in Istanbul before anyone operates.

What sits outside the quote

Arm liposuction, a thigh lift or tummy tuck, an extended incision, and later scar revision are outside this arm-lift scope unless included in the written plan. A mini incision cannot be extended solely to pursue a photograph; the incision is determined by the clinical plan.

Theatre, anaesthetic and nights in Istanbul

Plan five to seven days in the city. That window covers the in-person assessment, the operation, the hospital night or nights, the first sleeve check and clearance to fly. Four nights is too short. Seven to ten belong to longer body operations, not this one. The hospital night sits inside those days; it does not replace them. Leave room for an extra night if the team asks.

Theatre time is usually one to three hours under general anaesthetic. A mini confined to the armpit can be shorter; an extended incision onto the chest wall can take longer. Discharge is signed by the surgeon — it is not an advertising date.

Recovery after you fly home

The first seven to ten days are arm care: sleeves as shown, elbows not locked straight for long stretches if you were told that, no gym, no heavy bags. Desk work is often possible after one to two weeks if the surgeon agrees. Driving, sport and raising the arms above the head wait for the timetable on your discharge note. The scar is red at first and settles over months. None of that is a scar-free promise.

Red flags after you return — spreading redness, pus, a temperature that persists, sudden swelling of the hand, pain that is getting worse, or breathlessness — mean a local clinician or A&E first, then your coordinator. Take the discharge note with you.

Can an arm lift and tummy tuck be done during the same operation?

An arm lift and tummy tuck can sometimes be performed during the same operation, particularly when both areas have loose skin after major weight loss, but the combination is more demanding than either procedure alone. Both operations can create long incisions and sizeable healing areas, while early walking and mobility remain important after surgery. The surgeon should consider the extent of skin removal, whether abdominal muscle repair is required, BMI and weight stability, general health, wound-healing risk, total operating time and blood-clot risk. If both procedures would be extensive or the combined recovery would make safe movement and self-care difficult, staging the arm and abdominal surgery may be more appropriate.

Is the main problem extra fat, extra skin or separated abdominal muscles, and which of those will this operation treat?

ASPS notes that when a large amount of fat is removed, extra skin can need a second operation. J-Plasma, also called Renuvion, aims to tighten skin with heat. It should not be written as a replacement for a tummy tuck or an arm or thigh lift when there is a hanging skin apron or a clear separation of the abdominal muscles. Source: ASPS liposuction safety.

How are a seroma, a wound opening or skin loss recognised and treated?

ASPS lists fluid collection, poor wound healing and heat injury among liposuction risks. A seroma is a wavy swelling under the incision. A small one may be absorbed. A collection that persists can be aspirated. One that is infected or threatening the skin is drained. A wound that opens, or skin that turns black, is a sign of tension, smoking, infection or a circulation problem. It is not a mark to close at home with a dressing. Drains, compression and the review date should be written down. Fever, a bad smell, an open wound and rapidly growing swelling should be reported without delay. Source: ASPS liposuction safety.

After I go home, who follows a wound problem or a suspected clot, and who pays for extra treatment?

The NHS asks people having cosmetic surgery abroad to settle in advance where reviews happen and what further surgery and a return journey cost. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. The NHS uses 5–7 days after liposuction or breast surgery, and 7–10 days after a tummy tuck, as planning windows before flying. Can my arms feel numb after an arm lift?

Yes. Numbness or other changes in skin sensation are recognised risks of arm-lift surgery. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons also lists possible nerve injury among the risks. Whether a person experiences a sensation change, and how long it lasts, varies. Ask the operating plastic surgeon which areas may be affected, how sensation changes are assessed during follow-up, and whom to contact if you notice a new or concerning change after surgery. Can liposuction be combined with an arm lift?

It can be included in some arm-lift plans when both loose skin and excess fat need attention, but the choice depends on your skin, anatomy and goals. Liposuction reduces fullness; it does not remove a hanging skin fold on its own. A liposuction-assisted arm lift is a distinct treatment plan, with its own quote and recovery considerations. Ask the plastic surgeon to explain which part of the concern each technique addresses.
