What an adult circumcision package is

Adult circumcision removes the foreskin in a grown man so the glans stays uncovered. The cut and the stitch pattern sit on the written plan after examination — sleeve, dorsal slit or another named method, not a millimetre sold from a photograph. It is not a penile implant, not hyaluronic girth filler, not a frenuloplasty on its own unless that paper names it, and not a paediatric sitting. How much skin is taken belongs to the urologist in the room, not to an advert. Healing still depends on keeping the wound dry and following the dressing note; a date for sex is not sold at a fixed fee.

The treating healthcare provider should identify the clinician responsible for the procedure and confirm the method, product or device after assessment in writing.

Who this package is for

Urologists usually consider adult men who want the foreskin removed for medical reasons (tightness, repeated inflammation) or for personal or religious reasons, whose skin is healthy enough to heal, and who can pause sexual activity until the wound is signed off. If rigidity is the problem, an implant paper is the conversation. If the only request is extra girth with gel, filler is a clinic sitting, not this cut. A child or adolescent sitting is not this page.

The date is often postponed if an active infection is present, if a clotting issue has not been cleared, or if poorly controlled diabetes raises the wound risk. Send medicines and any recent urology letter. Suitability is confirmed in Istanbul before anyone cuts. Filler, an implant “while we are there”, or a hair-transplant combo in the same week is not assumed.

Procedure and clinical scope

Local anaesthetic is used when specified; this is generally outpatient care, though the treating team determines discharge based on recovery and clinical findings.

Clinical exclusions and limits

A penile implant, filler treatment, a separate frenuloplasty, revision or second operation is a distinct procedure unless individually assessed and specified. The amount of tissue removed must be guided by anatomy; taking more than can safely be spared is not an appropriate treatment target.

Clinic time, anaesthetic and nights in Istanbul

Allow 2–4 total days in Istanbul for assessment, the procedure and a first dressing check. This is a planning window, not a hospital-night count or fitness-to-fly clearance. The treating clinician should confirm whether review is complete and whether you are fit to travel.

The sitting is in clinic under local anaesthetic as named on the paper — not a general anaesthetic and not a ward night unless that paper keeps you in. Discharge is signed when you can pass urine as asked and the dressing is sound — it is not an advertising clock.

After the sitting

Expect swelling and tenderness for some days. Keep the dressing as shown; skip gym, tight clothing, soaking baths and sexual activity until the note allows it. Desk work is often possible after a few days if you are comfortable sitting. Stitches dissolve or come out as written. None of that is a cosmetic millimetre guarantee.

Red flags after you leave — spreading redness, pus, a temperature that persists, bleeding that will not stop, or trouble passing urine — mean a local clinician or A&E first, and follow the provider’s written emergency-contact instructions. Take the discharge note with you.

How can circumcision affect erection, orgasm, ejaculation and genital sensation?

The NHS says that after circumcision the glans is usually less sensitive, the skin does not move in the same way, and that this can change sexual experience, while a major long-term effect on sex life is not expected in most people. In adult circumcision, which skin will be removed, what happens to the frenulum, and is a more limited option suitable?

The NHS describes circumcision for a medical reason, often when other treatments have not worked or it is the only option: recurrent balanitis, a tight foreskin that interferes with passing urine or with erection, a foreskin that cannot be pulled back, or scarring from lichen sclerosus. The surgeon makes a circular cut just below the glans, removes the skin and closes it to the shaft with dissolvable stitches. A short frenulum is not the same condition as phimosis. If bleeding, infection or a wound problem appears after I go home, who follows it and which cost is whose?

The NHS asks for same-day or emergency help after circumcision if bleeding will not stop, you cannot pass urine, you have a fever, or the penis wound opens or is very painful. The NHS also asks people to get the cost of further surgery and a return journey in writing beforehand. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications.
