Septoplasty for nasal obstruction: what the NAIROS trial found

The UK NAIROS randomised trial compared septoplasty with six months of saline and steroid nasal sprays in adults with a deviated septum and at least moderate obstruction. It found a larger improvement in reported symptoms after surgery at six months, with a smaller difference still present at one year. The findings also need to be read alongside surgical complications, crossover between groups and the study’s limits.

Hyaluronic acid penile filler: what the evidence says about girth, safety and uncertainty

Randomised trials suggest that hyaluronic acid (HA) filler can increase measured penile girth for a time in selected men seeking cosmetic augmentation. The evidence does not establish a lasting result, a gain in length, improved sexual function or a risk-free procedure. This review separates HA from polylactic acid (PLA), summarises trial and complication data, and explains what current guidance says to discuss before making a decision.
