This stay is a Hollywood smile that needs fixtures as well as crowns: four implants and twelve crowns as named on the paper. The four fixtures replace missing or unsaveable teeth in the smile line; the twelve crowns then shape colour and bite across the visible set. It is not twelve veneers on sound fronts, not twelve crowns with no implants, not a full All-on-4 arch of fourteen units on one jaw, and not a millimetre-perfect celebrity set from a photograph. Brand, diameter and which four sites are drilled belong on the written quote. Osseointegration still takes months; a temporary you leave with after the first chair sitting is not the same as the twelve definitive crowns unless that paper says they are fitted on the same trip.

The treating provider’s written plan should identify the clinician responsible for the planned implant placement and restoration, including crowns, bars or hybrids where applicable.

Dentists usually consider adults who want a more even smile but have gaps, failed roots or teeth that cannot take a veneer or a crown on their own, who have enough bone for four implants after a scan, and who accept that the final twelve crowns often come after the bone has settled. If every visible tooth is sound, the veneer or crown Hollywood quotes are the conversation. If a whole jaw has no teeth left, the All-on-4 single-jaw quote is the conversation. Soft bone, untreated gum disease or a heavy grind often changes the map.

The date is often postponed if a large infection is active, if a medical condition makes surgery less safe, or if the scan shows a graft is needed first. Send daylight photographs of your smile at rest and while speaking, plus any recent panoramic or CBCT if you have one. Suitability is confirmed in Istanbul before anyone drills. All-on-6, a titanium bar, extra implants beyond four, or extra crowns beyond twelve are not assumed.

A full All-on arch, extra implants beyond the four named, extra crowns beyond the twelve, veneers instead of crowns, bone graft or sinus lift, a titanium-bar hybrid, and a third trip that was never on the plan sit outside this figure unless they are named there. Loading four implants with a finished smile to chase a photograph is refused if the bone plan does not allow it; that is a clinical limit, not an upsell.

Two clinical visits are common unless the written plan names one. The first covers assessment, the scan, four implants and a temporary if named. Months later the second covers the twelve crowns — preparation of remaining teeth, try-in and cement — typically five to seven days around those sittings. The implant visit typically spans several nights around the chair work. The dentist may arrange a review if a stitch check or bite adjustment needs attention.

The sittings are in the dental chair under local anaesthetic; any sedation must be assessed and specified in the written clinical plan. This is outpatient dental care; it does not itself imply an overnight hospital admission. The treating dentist confirms when travel is appropriate. Bone healing then runs at home between visits.

The first days after placement are swelling, a soft diet and careful cleaning as shown. No gym that raises blood pressure in the head, no smoking if you were asked to stop, no hard nuts or opening packets with the new fixtures. Desk work is often possible after a few days if the dentist agrees. After the crown sitting, sensitivity to cold is common; the hotel-day smile is not a millimetre-perfect set. Full chewing waits for the written healing plan, often months after the fixtures go in, not the first flight home.

Red flags after you return — spreading swelling, pus, a temperature that persists, an implant that feels loose, a crown that comes off, or pain that is getting worse — mean a local dentist or A&E first, then your coordinator. Take the discharge note with you.

These notes answer questions people raise before they accept a written treatment plan. They describe what that plan should make clear. They are not a promise that any partner hospital uses a particular technique, device or payment arrangement. With your consent, an enquiry may be shared with an authorised healthcare partner.

Which tooth needs treatment, will a sound tooth be cut down, and is there a more conservative option?

An extraction should not become part of an All-on plan until it is written that the tooth cannot be restored because of a crack, the remaining tooth structure, or the periodontal support. A sound tooth is not automatically reduced to even a smile line. Source: AAE on saving a natural tooth.

How will decay and gum health be assessed before a crown, implant or smile plan?

Active periodontal disease means pocket depth, bleeding and bone support are recorded before veneer or crown preparation starts. Untreated gum disease is also among the reasons a dental implant can fail. Source: FDA dental implants.

How was the bone or sinus checked for an implant, All-on-4, All-on-6 or sinus lift, and why is a CBCT needed?

ADA and AAOMR guidance starts with the clinical examination, then imaging. A CBCT is used when a two-dimensional film cannot show the bone height and width, the nerve canal or the sinus floor that the plan needs. It is not a routine scan for everyone. The benefit of the radiation has to outweigh the risk. Source: ADA radiographs and CBCT.

Will I be given the implant brand, model and a record I can keep?

The FDA asks patients to ask which brand and model will be used and to keep that record. The implant body, the abutment and the screw are separate parts. The record lets a later dentist identify the device if it loosens or hurts. An example brand name is not the card for the device that will be placed in you. Source: FDA dental implants.

How will a new crown or prosthesis affect my bite and chewing force?

The FDA lists a bite that does not feel normal, and an abutment screw that loosens so the tooth seems to twist, among implant risks. Contact with the opposing teeth should be checked before a new crown or bridge is cemented. If you clench or grind, a night guard should be written separately. Source: FDA dental implants.

If I develop an infection, lose an implant or break a prosthesis after I go home, who follows that and who pays?

The FDA asks you to tell the dentist without delay if an implant is loose or painful. The NHS asks people treated abroad to get the cost of further treatment and a return journey in writing beforehand. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. A manufacturer’s record does not pay for a second flight or a new prosthesis. Sources: FDA dental implants, NHS advice on cosmetic surgery abroad.

What happens if a dental implant does not bond with the bone?

If an implant does not bond securely with the jawbone, the dentist needs to assess the implant and the surrounding site; it may need to be removed. Replacement is sometimes considered after a healing period, but whether it is possible depends on why the first implant failed and on a fresh clinical assessment. Other ways of replacing the tooth may also need discussion. There is no single timetable that applies to every case. Ask the treating dentist to explain the findings, next steps and follow-up plan.
