This stay covers a Hollywood smile with twenty thin shells — usually the teeth that show in a wide laugh on both jaws, as mapped after assessment. A veneer still covers the front of a prepared tooth; it does not wrap the whole tooth like a crown. Twenty units go further than twelve front veneers and further than sixteen on one arch: the lower smile and the next teeth back are often in the plan. It is not twenty-eight full-mouth crowns, not All-on implants, not bleaching alone, and not a millimetre-perfect celebrity set from a photograph. Theatre, anaesthetic and nights in Istanbul

Plan five to seven days for the planned dental visits. That window covers assessment, preparation of both jaws, a try-in and bonding; the dentist may schedule a review if shade or bite needs adjustment. Seven days is not a medical rule.

The sittings are in the dental chair under local anaesthetic. Twenty units take longer in the chair than twelve; the expected time sits on the written plan. Sensitivity after bonding is common for a short while; the result is not guaranteed to match a photograph.

Recovery after you fly home

The first days can feel tight or sensitive to cold, especially where upper and lower shells now meet. Eat as shown; avoid very hard nuts on a new bite until the dentist is happy. Desk work is often possible the next day if you are comfortable. Cleaning around the veneer margins is taught in clinic. How will decay and gum health be assessed before veneers or crowns?

Active periodontal disease means pocket depth, bleeding and bone support are recorded before veneer or crown preparation starts. Preparation of a tooth whose gum is still inflamed should not be treated as a routine step in the written plan.

How will new veneers or crowns affect my bite?

Contact with the opposing teeth should be checked before a veneer, crown or bridge is cemented. If you clench or grind, a night guard should be written separately from the first fee.

If a veneer or crown breaks, or infection appears after I go home, who follows that and who pays?

The NHS asks people treated abroad to get the cost of further treatment and a return journey in writing beforehand. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. If I have veneers removed, will my teeth go back to how they were?

Usually, a tooth does not return to its original state if enamel was removed to prepare it for a veneer. The amount of preparation varies by tooth and plan; some veneers need less enamel removal than others. A veneer may also chip, wear or loosen and need repair or replacement over time. Before agreeing, ask the dentist to show which teeth would be prepared, how much natural tooth structure is expected to be removed, and what the alternatives and future maintenance could involve. The American Dental Association’s veneer guidance explains that treatment is not reversible when enamel is removed.

Can I whiten my teeth after veneers?

Whitening can lighten natural teeth, but it does not change the shade of existing veneers or other tooth-coloured restorations. If natural teeth are bleached after veneers are fitted, their colour may no longer match the restorations. If you are planning a smile redesign, ask the dentist to assess your teeth and agree the order and target shade before treatment; do not start a whitening course on your own to try to match veneers.
