Monofocal Cataract Surgery cost in Turkey
The indicative planning range on this page is 1,500–2,500 EUR, with an example coordinated package of 1,900 EUR. These figures help you compare scope, tests, anaesthesia, facility, follow-up and written inclusions before sending an enquiry. They are not a binding quotation, medical advice or a guarantee of suitability, safety or outcome. With consent, an enquiry may be shared with authorised healthcare partners for their own assessment and quotation.
Each month, Just Clinic Istanbul collects current prices / costs for monofocal cataract procedures from 30 hospitals randomly selected from our partner network, listed on our Hospitals page. We compare equivalent treatment plans and publish the lowest and highest reported prices as a minimum–maximum range. They are a neutral, objective reference, not the price of a single hospital or clinic and not a personal offer from Just Clinic Istanbul.

Monofocal Cataract Surgery: an overview
Monofocal Cataract Surgery may be discussed after a private examination of the prescription, eye health, cornea, tear film, lifestyle and expectations. The appropriate option is not determined by a headline price or prescription alone. This page is general planning information and does not assess suitability.
The indicative price in Turkey is EUR 1,500-2,500. An example package figure is EUR 1900. Neither figure is a binding quotation or a promise of a particular visual result.
Assessment and candidacy
Screening may include refraction history, corneal topography or tomography, thickness, ocular-surface review and a wider eye examination. Active surface disease, an unstable prescription, suspicious corneal measurements, cataract, retinal disease or expectations that cannot be met may lead to postponement or another option. The treating eye-care clinician decides what is clinically appropriate.
Laser procedures reshape the cornea using the selected technique; cataract surgery removes the cloudy natural lens and places an intraocular lens. The procedure, preparation and observation take longer than the laser or surgical step itself. Anaesthetic arrangements vary by procedure and setting and should be stated clearly in the written quotation.
Stay and recovery
Travellers should allow time for examination, treatment, early review and any required observation before returning home. Vision can fluctuate while the eye heals. Use drops exactly as prescribed, do not rub the eye and follow individual advice about driving, work, screens, swimming and exercise. Increasing pain, marked redness, discharge, sudden visual decline, flashes or a curtain-like shadow requires urgent clinical advice.
Questions from you
These notes answer questions people raise before they accept a written treatment plan. They describe what that plan should make clear. They are not a promise that any partner hospital uses a particular technique, device or payment arrangement. With your consent, an enquiry may be shared with an authorised healthcare partner.
How will the cataract lens power be calculated, and is a trifocal lens suitable for my retina, cornea and optic nerve?
The NHS says a specialist examines and measures the eye before cataract surgery. Lens power is calculated from that measurement. One ready-made number does not fit every eye. Glasses may still be needed afterwards for reading or for distance, and the prescription can differ from the old one. A trifocal lens splits light. If the macula, cornea or optic nerve is diseased, that split can reduce contrast further. A trifocal choice should therefore be written from the retinal and corneal findings, not as a “better lens” than a monofocal. Source: NHS cataract surgery.
Why a monofocal or a trifocal lens, and what should I expect for distance, near vision and night lights?
The NHS says glasses for reading or for distance can remain after surgery. A monofocal lens is usually chosen for one distance. The other distances need glasses. A trifocal lens aims to reduce the need for glasses at intermediate and near distances. Night halos, glare and reduced contrast sensitivity are part of that expectation, and they cannot be said to fade in everyone. The brand, model and record of the lens that will be implanted should be given in writing. Source: NHS cataract surgery.
If vision drops suddenly, pain is severe, or infection is suspected after I go home, what is the emergency route and who pays?
The NHS asks people to call 111 for a sudden increase in floaters, flashes, a curtain or dark shadow in the vision, or sudden blur, because of possible retinal detachment. Redness, pain and sensitivity to light also need an eye check the same day. The NHS asks people treated abroad to get the cost of further treatment and a return journey in writing beforehand. Travel insurance usually does not cover surgical complications. Sources: NHS cataract surgery, NHS advice on cosmetic surgery abroad.
Can cataracts come back after surgery, or can vision become cloudy again later?
The removed cloudy natural lens does not grow back. Months or years later, however, the thin capsule behind the artificial lens can become cloudy (posterior capsule opacification, or PCO), which may blur vision and feel like the cataract has returned. An eye specialist can check the cause; if PCO is responsible, YAG laser capsulotomy may be considered. New or worsening vision still needs clinical assessment rather than assuming it is PCO. Can a toric lens correct astigmatism, and is that the same choice as monofocal or trifocal?
These terms describe different lens features. Monofocal and trifocal lenses describe the number or range of focal distances the lens is designed to provide; a toric lens is designed to reduce astigmatism. The Royal College of Ophthalmologists notes that toric lenses can reduce postoperative astigmatism, while the suitable lens and visual target depend on measurements and shared discussion with the surgeon. Ask which lens model is proposed, what it is intended to correct, what glasses may still be needed and whether any extra cost applies. Royal College of Ophthalmologists cataract commissioning guide.
Does previous LASIK or PRK affect cataract lens-power calculations?
It can. Laser vision correction changes corneal shape, which can make standard measurements less reliable when the surgeon calculates the power of a cataract lens implant. Special calculation methods may be used, and the intended result is less predictable than in an eye without previous corneal refractive surgery. Tell the cataract surgeon about any past LASIK, PRK or similar procedure and bring old records if available; the surgeon can explain what measurements and expectations apply to you. How much does Monofocal Cataract Surgery cost in Turkey?
+
The indicative range is EUR 1,500-2,500. An example package is EUR 1900; the final quotation depends on assessment and confirmed inclusions.
How is suitability assessed?
+
The treating eye-care clinician reviews measurements, eye health, medical history, expectations and the demands of daily life before recommending an option.
How long should I stay in Istanbul?
+
The authorised healthcare partner should confirm the arrival, procedure, review and travel timetable for the individual plan.
Does the procedure guarantee freedom from glasses?
+
No. Outcomes, healing and future visual needs vary, and the clinician should explain realistic limitations.
